Tischler Ltd is a UK based company providing Oak Framed Garden Structures in the Midlands area.
We manufacture all our products in the UK using both UK and European sourced wood.
Our factory and design departments are based around Stourport on Severn in Worcestershire.
The company was formed when the Directors identified a niche in the Garden Structure market for high quality oak framed products at reasonable prices.

At the present time most Garden Structures are made abroad from softwood and imported into the UK.
Have you ever wondered why you can’t get oak framed garden structures easily and at reasonable prices?
Well the answer is that during the time it takes to manufacture and import these products, oak often drys out during transit (thus making it difficult to put together once it arrives at your doorstep).

Consequently this means that only softwood is used on products imported into the UK.
The problem with softwood is that it is not as dense as oak and rots quickly thus reducing its life span.
You can of course paint the wood with preservative. But ultimately the life span of your product will be determined by the number of times it is painted with preservative.

It is only in the last 25 to 50 years this reliance on softwood has evolved. Previously as a country we used to use oak which lasted considerably longer.
However in truth after time, because of the inherent structure of softwood, it will rot after which they expect you to purchase another structure to replace it.
At Tischler we use oak for our garden structures.
As we manufacture our products in the UK, to order, it means that there is very little time between manufacture and installation.
This means the oak has very little time to dry, thus making it easy to put together.
In fact once built, as the oak drys out it pulls the joints together thus resulting in an even stronger structure.
The strength of a structure is its frame and in using oak our structures have a lot longer life span than softwood structures.
We only have our country’s history to provide evidence of this.
Look at all those Tudor Oak Framed buildings that are still standing after 500 years.
Not that Tischler is not open to new ideas. Far from it.
We believe that you should review both traditional and modern methods taking the best points of each and combining them into products that are strong and beautiful, but that are also easy to build.

For example we have taken modern methods of manufacturing and fabrication and combined them with traditional designs and jointing.
We tend to use mortice and tenon joints for their inherent strength, but pin them with modern fixings for ease of construction.
There is an urban myth that oak is much more expensive than softwood, however when you look at the lifespan of a product made from oak compared to a product made from softwood, oak is cheaper.
When you invest in oak you invest in time.
